Benefits of Coffee

Here are some reasons as to why drinking coffee is beneficial:

If you drink coffee, we’ve got some news for you; it can actually be beneficial for you. And if you don’t drink coffee, after reading this blog, you might consider starting.

One of the main reasons people drink coffee is to get an energy boost. Where does this boost come from? Caffeine. Caffeine is a stimulant that activates the central nervous system. This is why you feel more energetic and awake after your morning cup.

But like anything, too much of it can be a bad thing. You could become restless, dizzy, or sometimes even anxious. If you experience any of this, you should consider cutting back on the caffeine a little (that means all caffeinated drinks, not just coffee).

Coffee Protects Against Depression

Depression is a serious mental illness that affects over 19 million people in the United States. There’s been multiple studies that show that coffee lowers rates of depression in both men and women. It showed that heavy coffee drinkers seemed to have the lowest risk of depression, about 20% to be exact. To be considered a heavy coffee drinker, you’d need to consume about 4 cups of coffee daily.

May Reduce the Risk of Type 2 Diabetes

There’s been lots of research suggesting that coffee drinking is linked to reduced risk of diabetes. A 2009 study found that the risk of developing diabetes dropped by 7 percent for each daily cup of coffee. And again, a heavy coffee drinker, has about a 50% lower risk of developing diabetes over light drinkers and people who don’t drink coffee at all.

It’s Healthy for Your Heart

Drinking one to two cups of coffee a day might help fight off heart failure. Also there is some evidence that coffee may support heart health by protecting against arterial damage caused by inflammation.

These reasons and many more are why coffee is healthy. But even though this seems great, remember that more isn’t always better. Also remember that caffeine affects every person differently, you’ll have to figure out what works best for you.

Sip responsibly! ☕
